Holding a bit of nature in our hands

At the beginning of the week, we had such nice weather that we decided to take a nature walk and collect a variety of different things. We even layed in the grass and looked up in the sky for a bit!

We noticed all of the leaves changing colours...

Then we brought it all back to our class to use for our pretend campfire!

Stay tuned to see what kind of patterns we have created this week!!

"Stand up for what is right..even if you stand alone"

This week we showed our support toward anti-bullying by wearing purple!
We also had many discussions about coconuts and where they come from, after one of our students showed an interest and curiosity in them. We watched a few videos on YouTube and then brought some in to break open and try. We guessed what was inside of them after shaking them close to our ear and hearing the sound of liquid swish around. We learned that the white part inside is called the 'meat' and that the liquid is the 'coconut water' which we also go tot rry!
We made some stained glass pumpkins out of transparent paper, tissue paper and black construction paper:

Once we were finished we hung them up in our window!

Here is some of the activities we were engaged in this week:

We made some yellow and orange play dough:
We talked about patterns and even made some of our own:
Then we found some campers who were 'camping out' using their jackets as sleeping bags:
So we thought it would be a neat idea to transform our house centre into a camp ground! We are currently under construction building a tent and gathering other materials we may need. We discussed having a fire so that we could roast marshmallows over it and of course some trees for scenery. We will continue to work on this next week.

Hope you enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend!!
