Welcome Back!

It was a nice two weeks off! We are happy to be back and ready for a New Year! We are officially back into the swing of things. Even though Christmas, for those of us who celebrate it is over, it wasn't for our Kindies. We were excited for our arrival of new blocks for our Block Centre. When we asked what could be built out of them, some of the children suggested 'a city!" so we have been looking at what a city has, and what a city looks like together. We are in the process of an inquiry project that involves building a city, but first we have some more research to do.
Here is what they have created so far, using the blocks and some street signs that Mrs. Ansari made:

We have been focusing on a few different concepts. In Math, we are learning how to represent numbers from 1-10. Here is a collection of student work:
We will continue to practice this, as well as recognizing the sound that letters make, and focusing on 2-D and 3-D shapes. Here are some of the shapes we have learnt how to make out of playdough:
We have made a cone, a cylinder, a cube and a sphere!!
The JK's have been busy making pizza out of 2-D shapes and counting the shapes they used!
We have made some calls, and have decided to change our Dramatic Play area into a PIRATE SHIP!
Stay tuned for our renovations!
