Mother Nature has the best box of crayons!

This week we went on a search outside for fallen leaves. Although it may still be a bit early on in the season, the children wanted to take a Nature Walk around our school to see if the leaves had started to change colour yet. We looked closely at the leaves and collected 3 or 4 each to take back with us for a creative art project we will be doing. This is what we found:

We are keeping them in a safe spot until next week, when we will be starting our pictures.

We put out a new road letter center out with some cars and the children really seemed to gravitate towards it. They traced the letters using the cars, it was great!

While some children played here, others were busy in the building area working together, using teamwork to construct these buildings:

In order to protect this road they built, we made a PLEASE DO NOT BREAK sign and explained to the others that we need to be careful when walking around things that we have made and want to keep, especially when we see this sign. it lets us know that we are still working on it.

We have been talking about colours, practicing identifying different colours and explaining the difference between PRIMARY and SECONDARY colours. We watched a few videos on what happens when you mix two colours together and then we experimented ourselves!!
Mrs. Ansari sat with a small group at a time as they chose the colours they wanted to mix together to see what would happen and make predictions to see if they were right. It was so much fun and amazing to see some of their expressions after they rubbed their hands together and opened them up to find a NEW colour!

Pretty amazing stuff!!

This week we said bye to one of our caretakers Justin. We are really going to miss him. The children always get so excited to see him when he comes in because he loves to play with them and has established a relationship with many of them over the past year.
We made him a card and gave him a plant as a sign of our appreciation and something to remember us by. He told the children that he did not want to say goodbye, but instead 'see you later' because he promises to come visit us, which was really nice :)
How we felt about it:
One of our students made me and him matching bracelets out of connectors:
And then the others wanted to be a part of the picture :)

We would like to especially thank one of our students for bringing in a special gift for us!!!
A Starfish!!
Taking a closer look at the shells:
We chose special places to put some of the shells around our classroom.
Here are two spots we chose:
We decided to put the white coral inside our fish tank!

Stay cozy this rainy weekend! See you Monday :o)
