Last week we read and talked about what Remembrance Day represented and what it meant to have peace. We read these two books to the class which were perfectly suited for young children:
We thought it would be nice to make a book of our own about what peace meant to us, so we started working on it and will continue to work on it throughout next week. It will be added to our classroom library for the students to look at and reflect on.
We have been playing this really engaging and fun math game during focused learning time. The children roll the die and whatever number they land they, they must find in a ten frame and swat. If the numbers match, then they keep the card as a point. They have been doing really well at recognizing numbers without counting which is called subitizing.
We have been slowly working on putting together our Christmas house in the North Pole. This week we took the big cardboard box out and painted it green.
Here are some things we have been doing over the past week. Making words using the magnetic letters:
Making cameras out of unifex cubes:
Exploring patterns:
Building garages and ramps for our cars:
Matching sticks to place cards:
Drawing the picture on our shirt!
Making pictures to represent rules for our buildings (no kicking, no breaking)
One of our friends wanted to take a picture of us using the ipad camera:
We had two very beautifully warm days this week, so on one of them we took a walk around our school to see the fire bush and how the leaves on the trees have changed since we last saw them.
We took a picture next to our favourite yellow leafed tree because it was so vibrant!
Have a lovely weekend :o)
JK parents- we will see you next week. We are looking forward to your visits!
